Handsoap:

I save $ on hand soap using this great tip from an old neighbor. I buy the foaming dial handsoap once and then refill on my own at a considerable discount. BONUS: I am reducing waste and helping the environment.

Need:
  • Empty Dial Foaming Hand Soap Pump Bottle (cost abt $3 but only need to buy once per year, I have been using my bottles for 2 years now, I just clean them out well at each refilling and spray with disinfectant)
  • Water (tap)
  • Large Liquid Hand Soap Refill-any brand (generic brand at Walmart is about $5 lasts me 6 months)
Fill empty bottle about 1/4 full with liquid hand soap. Fill with water and shake. Put cap back on. Pump. You can adjust amount of soap depending on your desired thickness of foam. My friend added a drop of tea tree oil to help prevent bacteria growth in the solution and for added disinfectant. We use our handsoap ALOT and have never had it go yucky. If you use the clear hand soap to refill and it starts to look cloudy dump it out and make a new batch in your pump bottle. I have to refill all our bottles about once per month. We have 4 bottles-one at each sink in the house-so this saves me:
4 bottles a month for 12 months= 48 bottle of hand soap
48 bottles @ $3 a bottle = $144 a year
$144 minus the cost of starting the refill system ( $10 for 2 large refills and $12 for 4 New Foaming pumps)=  $122 dollars saved per year
