I struggle with keeping homeschool items organized, tidy, yet easy to get to when we are in the middle of projects. I've tried all sorts of ways to keep it all together, little bins, plastic bags, cups, etc. My favorite organization tool is a re-purposing miracle! I picked up a few over-the-door shoe organizers on clearance at Wal-mart one day and thought they would be helpful to organize my kids beanie-baby collection. I found they were useful for all sorts of things. I hung a few in the garage to throw those odds and ends into. I then got one for our homeschool closet and love it! I can see what we have a just grab it. So if you have a spare door or two, pick-up some of these shoe organizers and just try it, you'll get hooked too.
