For several years I've been meaning to place a world map on our kitchen table and cover it with clear vinyl. I finally made a stop at the fabric store (I don't go there very often you see) and purchased the vinyl. The kids love it! We have already had some great discussions during meals about the world at large, current events and history. It's a great item for the Leadership Education home. What other things like this have you done to your home?

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this idea!! It's on my to-do list.
Great Idea!, just wish we had a table big enough to fit ours on! for now it'll have to stay on the wall :)
We had one of these for years
This would be so much fun. I always hate having to climb on the bench or grabbing a broom or mop to point to a location. But, alas, our table is round. So ours will stay on the wall as well.
How did you get the vinyl to stay on? Also, how thick was it? Thanks!
Ana
The vinyl was the thickest they had ($5.99/yd). And it stays on because it is thick and it hangs over a foot or so on all the edges.
We have done this and not only do we keep maps under it, but any other things we like. One neat trick is that you can use Dry Erase markers on the vinyl. So that adds all sorts of fun educational opportunities! :)
