Chubs wears the cone of shame
We had to take poor Chubs into the Emergency Vet over Labor Day weekend. He had a small bump on his right cheek that grew over night, to about the size of a golf ball. The vet said it was an abcess due to another cat scratching him outside. The nurse shaved him and then the vet lanced it open. We have to keep it open and let it drain...it is not pretty. We are putting warm compresses on him for as long as he will let us hold a cloth on his face. His least favorite part of the whole ordeal has to be the antibiotic pill he has to take every 12 hours.
Here he is in all his sad kitty-ness. He was so humiliated at having to where the cone he tried to go back into his carrier (which he hates) just so no one would see him.
Kittens
The stray cat we took in a few months ago named Rosy had kittens, I am not sure how old Rosy is, but we think this was her first and last litter. She had 3 kittens right away and the last one took a little longer. So four all together. She is doing fine and nursing them.
Meet Rosie
ROSIE
We were blessed with a new addition to our family this month. We hadn't mentioned her earlier because we were waiting to see if she was going to want to be adopted by us. We also wanted to make sure Chubs would accept her. Well she loves us, we love her, and Chubs-he tolerates her. She is just 6 months old and still in that kitten stage. She loves to play, lick (which is kind of icky), and be held. The boys are having a blast with her. She helps entertain (annoy) Chubs who is 5 years old now. Which is good for him becuase it keeps him young and active. They sort of remind me of Garfield and Nermal...lol.
She was a stray found in our complex and was about to take a car ride to the Boise Humane Society with our building managers. All the shelters in our area are VERY full, its a sad time of year for unwanted pets. We (the unsuspecting victims) were just there to reserve the Conference Room and innocently asked about the meowing in the office. We held her and feel in love.
The Cats Out of the Bag
Levi's brother Jassen and his wife have 3 cat children that they adore. They have grown and stock pilled fresh dried catnip in large bags and store them at Levi's parent house. I took a small baggie home for Chubs thinking it would be a nice treat for him. I took the little bag out of my purse and sat it on the kitchen counter and got busy. I made dinner, fed the kids, and then took them to the pool (without waiting an hr after eating). When we got back, we opened the front door and saw this flash of orange dart across and down the hallway. When I went in the kitchen this is what I found:
The bag was shredded and cat nip was scattered all over the floor. Chubs was very energetic...to say the least.

The Chickens of Oz
A few weeks ago we had some awfully high wind storms here in Weiser. My dear sweet chickens had routinely been harassed by our witchy black cat Onyx from the other side of their chicken wire cage. So I imagine some supernatural forces were at play in this incident. The wind picked up over night and blew their gate open. My very curious chickens made the fatal mistake of coming out of their warm, lighted coop. They were immediately blown out of their fenced in area and out into the cruel, cruel world. If by some miracle they have survived and you see them, walking along the yellow-brink road. Tell them to remember their ruby slipper and just click them together and cluck, " There is no place like home, there is no place like home."
When Cats Attack...
Cuddling Kitty
Oliver found Chubs napping on my bed peacefully. He proceeded to make Chubs more comforable during his nap, by surronding him in blankets and pillows. Chubs was so tired he didn't even care.
Our Pets
Scamp the best Hamster EVER! Never bites or anything.

Chubs our 4 year old Tabby Cat-he loves to sleep anywhere he can get some peace and quiet.
Chloe and Onyx our new kittens. In teh first picture Onyx is sticking out her tongue-that pretty much sums up her attitude. She is a champion mouser and is sweet enough to always share what she catches with her sister Chloe. Gross, but sweet.
This is Shooter our Chesapeake Bay Retriever, he loves to go down to the river behind our house and swim.
