I stumbled upon a fun little website specializing in Historical paper dolls, created by a homeschool mom who loves history and doodling. Paper Dali has hand-drawn paper doll figures of historical people. The Egyptian dolls are especially fun and given freely by this creative genius to enhance your home education efforts. These paper dolls would make a great addition to a lapbook, notebook, or just fun to play with while you read and learn about history.

Anti-Social Homeschoolers

What happens when your homeschooled and you have your first encounter with a girl? These 3 boys are so silly, what a fun video series about the sterotypical homeschool teens.. Follow the link at the end of each episode to see the next one. Aside from the silliness of these videos, these boys have some great videography and acting skills.

Living on Less

These days almost everyone I know is trying to stretch a dollar. Unless you have a money tree in your back yard, everyone could use a little extra cash from saving at the checkout stand and using our resources wisely. It's a great time to learn how to live more frugally. Here are a few websites I have found to help me with my New Years goal of living on less.

Miserly Moms--This site has lots of recipes and a great section with budget calculators

Mommy Savers-This site has great articles and tips, I especially like the home decorating tips and the freebies forum

Grocery Guide searching the ads at the stores in your area, lets you print coupons, find recipes to use the the items you got on sale and much more!

Pinching Your Pennies helps you do just that, many great resources and information. The State forums are awesome for finding local deals and sharing what you've find.

I was searching the internet and reading my emails and got the scoop on some fun homeschool freebies. Who doesn't love free stuff?

Inventors Lapbook and Unit Study at A Journey Through Learning Blog.

Currclick, always has a free section and everyweek they also have a featured free item to download. Just click on BY PRICE at the left and then SHOW ONLY FREE PRODUCTS.

The Ingnite the fire website (which has the coolest name ever!) Has a very detailed list of free curriculum resources, which they call free wood, this site is well worth a bookmark.

The Homeschool Helper website is just that a big help! They provide lots if little items to help you. I'm a big fan of their lapbook section, can I just say WOW! HH has saved this mom hours of work. Check out their Valentines Day resources.

A Simple Womans Daybook


FOR TODAY January 26th...

Outside my window...it is bright and sunny and the snow is melting, drip, drip, drip. There is hope for spring.

I am thinking...so much to do, where to begin.

I am thankful for...The warm, warm sun.

From the learning rooms...we aren't doing school today, Levi is home for his day off playing with the boys. I've been getting some lesson organized.

From the kitchen...we are eatting all the leftovers in the fridge and my Amish Friendship bread starter is sitting on the counter.

I am wearing...t-shirt, capris, and bare feet

I am creating...a pleasant calm home for my myself and my family

I am going...to need to return movies today in town and maybe take a few moments for me at a little shop.

I am reading...lesson manuals

I am hoping...for the sun to stay a while and warm us up.

I am hearing... Ingrid Michealson sing Breakable on Pandora Radio.

Around the house... the boys are busy playing and talking with their Dad.

One of my favorite things...cuddling cats, who purr.

A few plans for the rest of the week: Tuesday- Movie with Levi, Scout Pack meeting, Wednesday-conference with teacher Sunday-Church
