So we've been using AO strictly for a whole term and I hate to say it but with 4 kiddos doing 4 different levels of the curriculum, I am burned out. We haven't been getting to the 'fun' stuff much and I really need the 'fun' stuff to keep me and the kids motivated. I'm looking into reorganizing things for next term, using AO books but combining some subjects. Currently I have a 12 yr old in YR6 that is average, a 10 year old in YR3 that is behind in reading skills, an 8yr old in YR2 that is advanced and a 5 year old in YR0 that is average. Any thoughts from anyone on the best subjects to combine?
Grandma and Grandpa Mitchell got us some Christmas-y donuts for snack today. More snowman carnage in December, as the boys ate the heads off the snowmen first, and were then disappointed that they weren't jelly filled.
Ian, Kaleb, Oliver and I attended the
Meridian Winterland Parade today. Josef wasn't with us because he is still feeling sick, we left him in bed. It was fun, but cold. The boys collected quiet a bit of candy. Oliver ended up with a frisby,he turned it upside down and held it out like his own personal offering plate. "More candy please, sir?" Then we headed to Hasting's Hardback Cafe, sat on thier couch with some cocoa and watched the snow fall outside the big front windows.

If you didn't know, well, I will just tell you. I am not a huge fan of advertisements. I understand thier place in modern society and such, but I still find it annoying to be walking down the street, sitting in a restaurant, or reading a magazine or newspaper I PAID for and be bombarded with ads.
So that is why THIS is my very favorite billboard in the whole wide world.

Snow Painting
The boys have always loved to put food coloring in a squirt bottle and use it to paint the snow.
Today they made a snow alien.
And gave the little owl totem a new dye job for his freshly grown hair.
GUESS WHAT?!
It SNOWED!!!!
The boys spent the morning playing in the snow and shoveling off the driveway and sidewalk.
Kaleb was master of the snow man!
Until...
He was seriously out done by our neighbors.
Talk about trying to keep up with the Joneses...we just couldn't compete with that!

A few nights back I couldn't sleep, because I missed Levi. So I decided to watch a movie. I watched this cute 1962 movie titled
My Six Loves on Netflix. This film was sweet and heartwarming, with mild cheesiness and a few singing numbers thrown in. A little like
Cheaper by the Dozen and
Please Don't Eat the Daisies. An actress exhausted from work goes to her Connecticut home only to find even more work and craziness, as six orphaned children hiding out on her property become her personal problem. Along comes the overly helpful and handsome town minister to "help" her with the problem. In the end, everything is happily ever after just like all movies should end.
