Stumbled this quote and had to blog about it, because this week I reached 'the point'. You get tired of caring about people who really could care less about you when it comes down to it. So really, it's a total waste of your time and energy. If you have to try too hard in a relationship ALL the time, it's not a relationship and you are probably better off without that connection in your life. Maybe this is not true for everyone, but in this one particular instance it is true for me. I feel a huge weight has been lifted just from the purge of that person from my life. So long, been nice knowing you, I'll take what you've given me and move on...have a nice life!

Today we headed to the Deer Flat Wildlife Refuge for a little day out. It's on Lake Lowell in Nampa, ID. We had a little trouble getting there, my google directions were WAY off, but lucky for us we had tanya with us who has a knack for directions. Once we got back on track after our little scenic trip to Bowl Island near Marsing, we finally made it to Lake Lowell the round about way.
We ate our lunches outside and saw a beautiful Blue Heron fly over the lake. Then we toured the visitors center.
Finally we drove around the lake and found a spot to get out and hike near the lake. We had so much fun!

ABCTeach and I got lots of good printables there.
So there's lots of ideas- now just make it work for your family! We made a big sign saying "30 Days of Thanks & Giving" and hung it up in our dining room; we do our traditional thankful journals every morning (well, the kids do, my mother-in-law correctly pointed out that Mom and Dad should, too... maybe next year!); we love hand-print crafts here (so far corn, the Mayflower and of course turkeys); we're reading Dora's Thanksgiving a bazillion times each day... enjoy the season!

This is as far as I got reading this book as the author was perhaps too honest and too graphic.
I picked up this fun candy mold while we we are Jo-Ann Fabrics looking for costume supplies. We made them for a Family Home Evening activity when Levi was home. They were pretty yummy!
Like every year the boys had some specific request for costumes. I am not a professional, but I do the best I can to make the costumes. This year Josef wanted to be a Skeleton Knight (no such costume avaiable for sale in our area). I painted a black sweat suit with bones, using an anatomy diagram for help, and added some crafted armor and store bought sword. Ian asked to be a lion, since we could not find one for those older than 4, I made this one from a thrift store tan hooded sweat suit and a brown chenille scarf. Kaleb was easy-we had this Shadow Ninja costume already he just needs a sword. Olive has been living in this caterpillar costume from our dress up trunk all year...so guess what he wanted to be? They all looked great. Wonder what challenges I will face next Halloween?
